Greetings, all, and welcome to all my new subscribers! So happy to have you here.
I’m deep in book launch shenanigans, so this is a short one. As evidenced by the fact that you are receiving this, I did, in fact, survive pub day with my kids home. It was not without hiccups — among other things, I sent a book announcement email to about 300 people and accidentally linked to my first book instead — but it was full of love and support, and I’m feeling lots of gratitude. (If you’re wondering how best to support me and the book other than buying it: social media mentions, recommendations to friends, and Amazon or Goodreads reviews are always welcome.) A local friend who read my launch day newsletter and my casual mention of almost certainly forgetting about dinner even brought me and my kids dinner, so that was a treat.
Also, KQED’s Mindshift just published a lovely article about my book, and I’m a guest this week on a bunch of podcasts: Raising Good Humans with
, This Is So Awkward with Vanessa Kroll Bennett and Cara Natterson, and Psychologists Off the Clock with . I loved all of these conversations so much.Today I want to let you know about two upcoming book events in case you can COME SEE ME IN PERSON! The first is tonight (Thursday, May 29) in NYC! It’s a free live event at 6pm for SheKnows, in which I’ll be interviewed by SheKnows editor-in-chief Erica Janes. We will even be joined in conversation by a panel of teens!!! And there will be drinks and light bites! This event is free, located at 475 Fifth Ave (at 41st St), and you can register here.
The second free event is on Saturday afternoon at 2pm and is closer to (my) home: It’s a live event at the Desmond-Fish Library in Garrison, New York. I’ll be joined by the fantastic Vanessa Kroll Bennett, the co-host of the This Is So Awkward podcast I mentioned above, and whom I interviewed here not long ago (along with Cara Natterson) about their wonderful book This Is So Awkward: Modern Puberty Explained. You can register for this free event here. Our books will be for sale, and I can sign and personalize your copy!
I hope that those of you who live in or around NYC can come see me at one of these events. If you do, please come up to me afterwards and say hi. And if you want me to speak in your home town, please recommend me to organizers at your kids’ school, your local bookstore, or your local library. I’d love to give a talk in your community!!
Come to California!!
